What is a company info weblog and why should I use one? Well, we have tried to make it easy to change the information store on an EE website. We wanted a central location for all contact information. Frankly I just got tired of changing company names and email addresses on 6 different locations on some of the sites we manage for our custom clients. So what we did was create a Company Info Weblog which allows us to input the contact information once and pull it into the website in the various locations. See below for more information.

The weblog is available to clients from the drop down for Publish. After the first one is published though you will want to find it under the Edit tab and edit it instead of creating a new one.

This is just a snippet of the Company Info weblog. As you can see, anyone can fill this in.

Once the information is input into the Company Info weblog it can be pulled into various locations like the Header. The Title (which is an H1 tag) and the tagline (which is an H2 tag) are dynamically pulled from the Company Info Weblog

A year ago I was perusing the user guide and wiki over on ExpressionEngine’s website for any information regarding creating your own installable templates. At that time there were none. At I just did a quick search for some of the files involved
