Welcome to EETemplates.com the first provider of professional website templates for ExpressionEngine. This website is a project of Blue Fish Design Studio, LLC but was the brainchild of me, Marcus Neto. Several years ago a friend of mine told me about the wonders of Content Management Systems. Specifically he was selling templates for Joomla. I was just a n00b in the world of building websites but was a fan of CSS, Semantic HTML and Information Architecture. This Content Management thing that he spoke of was intriguing to me. So I dabbled in Joomla. I used it to build a number of sites but always struggled when trying to create a Joomla Site using my own designs. It was a beast to work with.
After about a year I stumbled across ExpressionEngine and fell in love. Not being a programmer but more of a User Interface kind of guy I saw that it would shield me from the more hard core code but still allow me to create websites that my clients could manage. My early endeavors with ExpressionEngine are an embarrassment now as I suppose today’s efforts will be in 2 or so years. But ExpressionEngine is cool like that in that it can absorb almost anything you can throw at it. Am I biased? Yeah.
This site is born out of necessity. I have a lot of local clients that could not afford a completely custom website using ExpressionEngine so I started building out sites that were somewhat generic but customizable so that I could reuse them. Change the logo, change the color, change some pictures in the rotator and voila! you have a new website.
About the construction of EETemplates.com
Built on Apple OSX. The same guy that suggested Content Management systems also suggested Apple Computers. I listened and never looked back.
Designed using Adobe Fireworks - yeah I know it is trendy to use Photoshop but I like working with vectors and gradients in Fireworks
Coded using the 960 Grid System. This Grid is perfect for what we do. Need Source Ordered? No problem. It allows me to create rough HTML pages in hours instead of days.
Textmate - I handcode my HTML. I’m old skool like that…
CSSEdit - The reason I switched to Apple Computers. This application is amazing!
Transmit - I used to use Filezilla on a PC and liked the dual pane view. Transmit was the only FTP application that had that view when I got my first Mac. Works like a charm too!
Firefox - Specifically the Firebug application for Firefox. Helps me wrap my head around what is going on with the code.
Pandora - Most important of them all. Pandora brings a little slice of heaven into my world every day. Especially since finding CDs of old skool rap like Heavy D, Afrika Bambaataa and Whodini are getting harder and harder to find
ExpressionEngine - This site is built using the most current 1.6.x version of ExpressionEngine. Yes we know ExpressionEngine 2.0 has been released and we have plans to upgrade as soon as the add-ons that we need are available.
Solspace User - This module has made it easy to manage the membership portions of the site.
LG Sitename - Cause we like to see our name in lights when we access the control panel
Fieldframe - So powerful in so many different ways.
LG Better Meta - This gets installed on a lot of our sites as it makes it crazy simple to update title tags. SEO is first!
